Do what you love to do...

It's a common thing that I learned from many teachers, seniors, relatives and friends etc that do whatever you love to do or enjoy the most.
I love to write and this is why after completing my MBA in finance/ supply chain management I chose to become a content writer and social media strategist.
Over the years I learned from my seniors, my mistakes and my observations.
So far, the journey is really good and satisfying.
Never doubt your potential and capabilities. If others could do it why can't you?
Keep this question in your mind always. Nothing is impossible if you have the desire to lead and live your dream.

Visit To IBA Career Fair 2013 - Held At Karachi University

On 16th February, 2013 I visited IBA Career Fair at Karachi University. It was a nice experience for me because of multiple reasons. Things which I noticed in the Career Fair were quite interesting and impressive. As it was held in Karachi University, there were numerous students who attended the job fair. Students from different departments attended the Career Fair, with different dreams. Most of the dreams were job-centric. After all, what else would they have thought about other than their jobs, keeping Pakistan’s economic conditions in mind? From 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, roughly 1,000 plus students attended the Career Fair.
As far as the organizations are concerned, all reputed companies were present at IBA’s Career Fair 2013. Organizations including Nestle, Engro, Loreal, Habib Bank Limited, Meezan Bank, Burj Bank, Warid, Zong, TRG and Linkagoal etc. were offered “Booths” to communicate with students and collect their CVs. Moreover, companies were also offered “Interview Lounges”, to conduct interviews of the candidates. Last but definitely not the least “Presentation Rooms” were also allotted to the companies to demonstrate their presentations in order to enrich the knowledge of students. Students had a great time at the Career Fair because they got an amazing opportunity to apply in different companies and in different sectors. These kinds of Career Fairs are much needed all over Pakistan to hire the right resource for the right job.
This particular Career Fair introduced students to not only national organizations (HBL, Hilal and Sanofi etc.) but also to international organizations like Linkagoal, Loreal and Nestle etc. With the help of such Career Fairs, horizon of students broadens and they learn multiple things not only about the companies but also about the success factors of the companies. For those who have strong entrepreneurship skills, such career fairs are very helpful in understanding the practices of the renowned companies.

More than 60 organizations participated in the Career Fair 2013; IBA did a fantastic job in bridging the gap between useful resource and companies. These kinds of events should be organized by other universities, as well, all over Pakistan, so that we can collectively fight against the joblessness and help in developing the economic condition of our beloved homeland.
IBA also provided representatives of the companies with tasty lunches. Hope to see more of such events in future.

And The Market Has Changed To 360 Degrees

I am sure if I talk about the marketing practices carried out in older days; today’s generation will find it amusing as well as, to certain extent, hard to digest. Things have changed tremendously. Even in under-developed and developing countries, marketing and business approaches have changed. This means that now people are internet friendly. Let us all accept the fact that today internet is no more a luxury but a necessity and so is social networking. Remember the times of Hi5, Orkut and My Space? Back then not many were infected by the disease named “Social Networkaholic”. People used to join these mentioned social-networks to stay in touch with their long lost friends and long distant family members so that they could interact with them once in a blue moon.
With the emergence of Facebook, everything changed to huge extent. Not only individuals but businesses also found their ways of indulgences. As a result, businesses created their pages and communities primarily on Facebook and then on other social-networks as well. Why? Mainly, to attract more and more customers, in order to turn them into consumers of their products and services. Now, every individual and business can be searched through Facebook, after Google. Kudos to Mark Zuckerberg! for changing the world and its norms. There are some amazing online marketing strategies which have been developed over the past few years. Many social networks have also appeared and managed to have their chunk of share in the market.

Another social network that is gaining a lot of popularity is “Sulia”. This is a content based platform and every individual and company can reach to it. It has managed to surprise New York media and still exploring the possibilities. Sulia is famous in circles where people are interested in knowing different things around the world, from entertainment to news and from sports to religion. Users with common interests can see what’s happening around the world and even explore about other users, unlike Facebook and Twitter.

Last but definitely not the least, there is another breeze of newness and sensibility in terms of social networking sites named “Linkagoal”. Linkagoal, on some definite grounds is different from Facebook, Twitter and Sulia. Linkagoal is a goal based social networking site that focuses not only on entertainment, fun but also some seriousness, i.e. goal creation and goal accomplishment. People had also compared Linkagoal with LinkedIn but in totality there is a huge difference in both. Linkagoal helps users to connect with other users and share content, mostly goals. The beta version of Linkagoal has managed to gain a lot of users and it is expected that soon, let’s say within a month or two, much advanced website of Linkagoal will be launched with more than 10,000 goals. All this in a span of just 1 year this looks quite promising.

With the help of all the above mentioned online platforms aka social networking websites, businesses have gained an extended market share from what they used to enjoy. Without setting up any physical office or outlet businesses are managing to enjoy international presence. This makes it easier to believe that once the person who came up with the idea of “global village” can now name it as “global neighborhood” and soon, it will be a “global room” for businesses operating around the world.

Text Messaging - SMSes (The New Mantra) Part II

As promised, I am back with the second part of the “Text Messaging - SMSes (The New Mantra) Part I”. I have received messaged and comments on the post, so thank you all for making me write one real soon for you. Without much of delay, I would like to come straight to the point and present you with more justifiable full forms of the acronym “SMS”.

Sufi Must Sigh
Religion is something that, in today’s life, we don’t follow at all but we love to preach. Similarly, there is a new Sufi weapon that is accelerating in youth and even elders i.e. sending religious text messages to friends and family members. Not only that, at the end of the messages they (the senders) want you to forward the message to a particular number of people else you will be thrown out of your religion. Why, just because you haven’t shared the “Good message” with your friends and family? Strange! yet practiced.

Sleep Massacre Syndrome
Can you recall the times when you have had a longest day of your life and all you yearn is a sound sleep with your office suit and shoes on? Beep Beep, and again a beep… that’s a forward SMS distracting you from your soundest sleep. You check the message and notice that it’s nothing important. Within a few minutes you receive another message and you check it thinking it must be your boss wanting to discuss something about next day’s meeting but all you find is a forwarded text message. This keeps on playing with you and finally you can’t get what you desired when you lounged on that bed of yours. A perfect night ruined by forwarded text messages. Sigh!

Sweet Messages Showered
It’s not been too late that I can’t exactly recall those sweet and soft messages of my cappuccino sending me texts full of emotions and “lovey dovey” emoticons.  But definitely receiving such messages every time is not appreciated as a person has to study, work in office, drive car or attend a meeting etc. In such conditions these sweet messages are kind of a nagging experience.

Do share your comments and experiences, if you also have some interesting full forms for the same acronym.

Keep reading. Thanks!

And The Magician Passes Away – Mehdi Hasan Voice of Pakistan

Who can forget the supper hit songs of Pakistani Film Industry from the era of 60’s to 80’s? The most prominent voice of Pakistani Film Industry (winner of countless awards including Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance and Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the Pakistani government) Mehdi Hasan passed away on June 13, 2012 in Karachi because of failure of breathing.
I don’t consider him just an ordinary singer; to me he was a magician who used to perform magic tricks with his unmatched voice. He introduced Pakistani music to not only few countries but to the world, literally. He was considered as the institution for both Ghazal and movie singing.
The King of Ghazal singing, Mehdi Hasan (Late), started his career back in 1956, though he also got chance to sing Ghazals and songs at Radio Pakistan in 1952, and his last recorded song for movies was released in 2000. His first breakthrough ghazal was Gulon main rung bharay from the movie Farangi. After that there was no looking back. He undoubtedly reigned specifically in 70’s because the excessive production of soft, romantic and musical Pakistani movies.
How can people forget the magic of his unlimited romantic songs like; Hamarai aankhon main aaj tak wo, rafta rafta wo mere, patta patta boota boota, Tu meri zindagi hai, yeh tera naazuk, zindagi ki raah mein and many more. Not only these if you really want to listen to his light hearted songs then listen to “Paanday Kalayee Karalo” picturized on Shaahid. The singer was a magician by every means!
May his soul rests in peace and may Almighty shower HIS blessings on Mehdi Hasan.

Movie Review - Rowdy Rathore

“Rowdy Rathore” is amongst the most awaited movies of 2012 for many reasons. Prabhu Deva created magnanimous magic for Salman Khan in his Bollywood directorial debut “Wanted” so the expectations are high. Most of the individuals also raised questions like, how can Sanjay Leela bhansaali, after producing meaningful and critique oriented movies like Guzaarish, Saanwariya, Black and Devdas, produce a hardcore entertainer – so called typical Bollywood Masala flick? There are fans and cine-goers out there who are waiting to see Akshay (The Khiladi) Kumar back in action after a long time. Moreover there are also many people who want to see Sonakshi Sinha and her talent after appreciating her in “Dabang”. The movie is a surprise ride for every single individual. Let me first make it clear that the movie is a remake of a Telugu movie which was originally adopted from a Tamil movie. This shouldn’t be shocking as “Wanted” was also a remake of Telugu movie named “Pokiri” – so you can call it Prabhu Deva’s unique sense of creating remakes and making them box office blockbusters.
The movie is about two Akshay Kumar(s), one is a Cop (Rathore) and the other is a con man (Shiva). Shiva performs cons with his friend 2G (Paresh Ganatra). In Shiva’s life Paro (Sonakshi Sinha) enters and they fall in love spontaneously. One day Shiva comes across a kid Chinky, who calls him “PAPA”. After some cats and dogs play Shiva comes to know that Chinky is the daughter of his look alike, IPS officer Vijay Singh Rathore (Akshay Kumar), whose life is threatened by a feudal of Devgarh (Somewhere in Bihar) named BaapJee (Nassar). Then movie transforms from a mistaken identity’s plot to a much serious and action oriented theme. I am not going to reveal the complete plot because I don’t want to kill the thrill.

If we talk about performances, Akshay Kumars bestows a splendid performance and he stands out in both roles. It is not a difficult thing for an actor of his caliber to enact both roles, as in past he has performed the same roles remarkably. Sonakshi Sinha, is a complete stealer, I personally was not expecting her to be so gorgeous, outrageous, stylish and full on entertaining actress. Watch out her dance, in every song of the movie – you will be amazed. She reminds of two gorgeous queens of Bollywood, Hema Malini and Rina Roy.
Paresh Ganatra embarks on a role that gives him ample chance to perform his way of comedy, which is different from Johny Lever or Rajpal Yadav, but it still brings smiles and some laughter on audiences’ faces. Nassar is a very seasoned actor of south movies, and he performs top notch performance as BaapJee. I am sure every viewer will find him disgusting, ruthless and wicked in the particular role. The actor who portrayed the role of Titla (Supreeth Reddy), Baabjee’s brother, is terrifying. He is also from south movie camp. His first seen scared and disgusted many viewers. Mushtaq Khan, Yashpal Sharma and Darshan Jariwala are usual. The kid is cute wins the heart.

Prabhu Deva’s direction is excellent. He definitely knows how to make a remarkable action packed movie and he will soon be counted amongst the most accomplished and detailed directors of Bollywood (provided he continues like this). The background music by Sandeep Chowta (the “Mast” and “Satya” fame) is amazing. Songs are good for listening once or twice – they actually go with the movie for plain entertainment. Khumar Sanu’s fans will listen to him after a long time in “Chammak Challo” and will definitely go back to early and mid 90’s.
Some of the clap-worthy scenes include:
  1. When Titla comes out from Raawan’s statue. He looks “HUGE” and frightening (at least in theatres).
  2. When Akshay returns to Nassar in post interval by saying “I’m back” – hilarious and outstanding, am sure no one would have thought a scene like that after the interval.
  3. The flashback sequence where Yashpal Sharma narrates the story to Akshay Kumar. The whole take is amazingly filmed.
  4. Both the scenes between Yashpal Sharma and Paresh Ganatra are really funny.
  5. When kid cries in front of Akshay Kumar because she can’t listen to the song of her mother. Very emotional.
The movie is full on entertainer, a masala and paisa wasool fare. But it does not offer anything to serious movie lovers or thought provoking audiences. At box office it will be a blockbuster, without a doubt. But getting an award for this movie is debatable. I strongly recommend it for Akshay Kumar’s (action) and Prabu Deva’s (direction) fans.

Rating: 6.5/10
